Dr Michael Ng is an Australian trained specialist general surgeon with special interests in Endocrine (Thyroid and Parathyroid) surgery and Thoracic surgery. He offers a vast range of minimally invasive surgical techniques.
Dr Michael K Ng was born in Leeds, UK and grew up in Malaysia before moving to Victoria, Australia as a teenager. After completing school at Melbourne High School, Michael proceeded to complete his medical degree at the University of Melbourne. He became a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 2012 by completing his postgraduate surgical training via the Austin Hospital, Western Hospital and Royal Melbourne Hospitals.
Dr Ng completed his medical degree at the University of Melbourne and became a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons by completing his postgraduate surgical training via the Austin Hospital, Western Hospital and Royal Melbourne Hospitals.
He was immediately recruited directly into consultant practice and has been a consultant general surgeon in both Regional Ballarat and its surrounds and in Metropolitan Melbourne since 2012. Michael aims to provide meticulous and superior surgical outcomes for all his patients through working collaboratively with teams of endocrinologists, oncologists and other medical specialists. This is to ensure that he can provide the best surgical outcomes for all patients, especially complex patients. The highest quality surgery can only be achieved through collaboration with other health professionals and hospital staff who share the same vision of patient-centred care.
Dr Ng’s surgical interest areas include Thyroid and Parathyroid disease and Thoracic Surgery. He employs minimally invasive techniques in both special interest areas. Michael is a member of ANZES and is also fully accredited and is certified by the CCRTGE to perform Gastroscopy and Colonoscopy.
Michael is actively involved in the teaching and training of the new generations of surgeons and medical professionals and is a well published author of multiple research papers in national and international journals. He enjoys being able to pass on valuable knowledge in order to help others maintain high quality surgical care for all patients.
Aside from work, Michael loves spending time with his wife and three children, reading science fiction books, playing badminton and is also an active Playstation gamer.
